This was reported in the UK press recently. A mother recognised her daughter after German police released picture of a child in an effort to identity the abusers. The pictures had been circulating on the 'dark net'. I saw it first in the dailymail:

I don't think many of us establish a scenario and then make it fit. I believe most of us look at the details and inconsistencies and look at why they exist and how they may impact the theory each of us believe may be possible.

Abduction versus kidnap
Apologies if this is on wrong thread. It has always struck me as suspicious that the McCanns and their friends immediately began to refer to Madeleine's disappearance as an "abduction" rather than the more commonly used term "kidnap". One would expect, under immediate stress and shock, colloquial terminology to dominate. Given the "umming and ahhing" in their statements and the "you knows", it jars that such an oddly technical term is always used. IMO this is because kidnap is, more often that ...
