In 1970 the council in Theresa May's Maidenhead constituency, brushed the horrific Green Field House child abuse scandal under the carpet, hoping it would never again see the light of day.
The child abuse surfaced again some thirty years later in 2000. Maidenhead police investigated but there was insufficient evidence to proceed with a criminal case, so a civil case was pursued by two complainants.
