Apologies if this is on wrong thread. It has always struck me as suspicious that the McCanns and their friends immediately began to refer to Madeleine's disappearance as an "abduction" rather than the more commonly used term "kidnap". One would expect, under immediate stress and shock, colloquial terminology to dominate.
